Maoist Center leader Sharma appointed Karnali Province CM

CPN (Maoist Center) parliamentary party (PP) leader Raj Kumar Sharma has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Karnali Province.

According to the agreement reached with CPN (UML), a coalition partner, Sharma will take charge as the chief minister for the first half of the five-year term.

Sharma had submitted a claim for the post of chief minister with the support of 25 lawmakers from UML, Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Maoist Center on Wednesday.

Earlier, Karnali Province Governor Pariyar had called on the parties to stake claim for the post in line with Article 168 (2) of the constitution of Nepal.

Maoist Center has 13 lawmakers, UML 10, RPP and Unified Socialist has 1 each in the province.
