On May 25th, 2026, we celebrated a momentous national occasion to mark the 80th anniversary of the independence of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This historic milestone fills us with pride as we reflect on our nation-building journey, guided by the wisdom of our Hashemite leadership and the resilience of our people. On this auspicious occasion, we extend our heartiest congratulations to His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II.
For Jordan, independence has never been just a memory, but a continuous path of development, balancing modernity with heritage. Today, as Jordan enters its eighth decade of sovereignty, it stands firm as an oasis of peace, stability, and a builder of bridges with nations worldwide.
In this context, Jordan-Nepal relations hold a special place in our diplomacy. Both countries share values rooted in international law, peace, and sustainable development. The vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II remains the driving force behind strengthening these bonds in Asia.
I had the honor of presenting my credentials to the President of Nepal, Ramchandra Paudel. During my engagements with other high-ranking officials and the business community, I witnessed firsthand the high regard Nepal holds for Jordan’s balanced foreign policy. There is a mutual desire and a strong governmental interest on both sides to develop and expand bilateral cooperation in numerous fields.
Both countries can expand cooperation across several key pillars, among of which are:
Economic and industrial partnerships: Working to unlock bilateral investment opportunities that serve both nations' economic growth.
Labor and mutual development: The Nepali workforce in Jordan is a vital asset to our economy, contributing significantly to sectors like textiles and services, while their remittances support families and economic stability back in Nepal. Jordan remains committed to developing robust legal frameworks that protect workers and guarantee mutual benefits.
Strategic trade in fertilizers and minerals: To further turn these visions into reality, the Embassy warmly welcomes the upcoming visit of a high-level Nepali economic delegation to Jordan. This visit will be a cornerstone for establishing strategic trade ties, particularly focusing on Jordan's globally renowned fertilizers, phosphate, and potash industries, which can directly support Nepal’s vital agricultural sector and food security goals.
Tourism and cultural exchange: Capitalizing on both countries' rich cultural landscapes to promote joint tourism, introducing Nepali travellers to Jordan's unique heritage and natural sites like Petra, Dead Sea, Aqaba, Jerash and the Baptism Site.
Political coordination: Continuing active dialogue and consultation on global issues to champion international peace and regional stability.
The 80th anniversary of our independence provides fresh momentum to elevate this diplomatic partnership with Nepal. The Jordanian Embassy is fully committed to translating these goals into tangible agreements that bring prosperity to both friendly nations.
We are looking forward to pursuing Jordan’s role as a beacon of security, freedom and stability in the region under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
