Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)'s South-South and Triangular Cooperation Division, Hua Yang, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Agriculture, Forests and Environment, Gita Chaudhary today.
In the meeting that took place at the Ministry in Singha Durbar, they discussed food security, agricultural transformation, sustainable agriculture–food systems, development, and expanding South–South and triangular cooperation in Nepal.
On the occasion, Minister Chaudhary said that Nepal is willing to further expand cooperation for transforming the agriculture sector, strengthening food security, and mobilizing international financial resources to that end.
The ministry stated that during the meeting, discussions were held on cross-border animal disease control, climate-resilient agricultural development, enhancing the capacity of agricultural laboratories and establishing accredited labs, promoting the export of high-value agricultural products, and strengthening the legal and institutional arrangements related to geographical indications.
Minister Chaudhary and the FAO Director on the occasion also expressed a commitment to further strengthening partnerships for sustainable, resilient, and inclusive agricultural and food system development.
