To mark the 44th Memorial Day of founding leader Jananayak BP Koirala, Nepali Congress (NC) organized a 5-kilometer "Green Run" in Lalitpur on Wednesday morning to raise awareness about climate change.
Initiated by the party's Central Policy, Research, and Training Academy, the run kicked off at UN Park with active participation from NC President Gagan Kumar Thapa alongside key party leaders and cadres.
Following the run, an interactive panel discussion titled "Climate Change Challenges: How to Address Them" took place at Jawalakhel Chowk featuring expert panelists. Simultaneously, prominent artists created live paintings depicting the severe impacts and potential solutions surrounding climate change.
In a unique humanitarian initiative, the party announced it will establish a "Humanitarian Assistance Fund" by contributing a fixed amount from party funds for every participant in the event. Party Vice-President Bishwa Prakash Sharma revealed that the funds collected will be used to support elderly individuals and children from recently displaced, landless squatter families.
Nepali Congress is observing BP Koirala’s memorial day for two days with various programs scheduled nationwide.
