Chief Justice Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma left for India on Thursday. Senior-most Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla saw him off at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
Malla had been on leave since Sharma was appointed as the Chief Justice. She had not reached the Supreme Court to welcome Chief Justice Sharma, nor had she congratulated him on his appointment as the Chief Justice.

The relationship between Sharma and Malla soured after the Constitutional Council meeting held on May 7 recommended Sharma, who was ranked fourth, as the Chief Justice. Justice Malla was ranked first. At that time, she also held the position of Acting Chief Justice.
After Sharma took charge as the Chief Justice, Malla took a 20-day leave. Even after Malla returned from leave, she has not shared a bench with him.
