Two individuals have been arrested on the charge of match-fixing in the Nepal T20 League cricket tournament held a week ago.
The arrested are former national cricketer Mehboob Alam and cricketer Adil Ansari, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police told Nepalkhabar.
Mehaboob was arrested from Morang and now has been kept in the custody of District Police Office, Morang.
“Mehaboo has been arrested. He has now been kept in the custody of District Police Office, Morang,” Police Chief SP Shanti Raj Koirala said, “Preparations are underway to take him to Kathmandu at the request of CIB.
Similarly, Adil was arrested in Saptari. He is being taken to Kathmandu, according to a police official.
Adil had played the cricket match of the Nepal T20 League from Janakpur Royals. He was not allowed to take part in the match for his alleged involvement in match-fixing.
The CIB was carrying out investigation on them after they were accused of match-fixing and spot fixing when the Nepal T20 League was taking place.
