A demonstration has been staged against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane and Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu on Saturday.

Women activists hit the streets against CAN's decision to include Lamichhane in the national team before his case is fully settled.

Holding placards, the demonstrators shouted slogans 'Boycott sexual abusers', 'Rape accused should not be in my national team', Are we safe?' among others.

The cricket governing body has been under fire after it decided to call Lamichhane to the closed training center.

A total of 20 players including former captain Lamichhane have been called to the closed training center as part of the preparation for the Tri-Series under the ICC Men's World Cup Cricket League 2 to be held at TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

CAN had earlier suspended Lamichhane. A central executive committee meeting held in Pokhara lifted the suspension on Lamichhane.
