With this announcement, Rawal has been relieved of his post as the Chief Minister. Rawal, who was appointed as the Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province government in line with Article 168 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal on January 11, has to step down after 29 days.

The government led by Rawal met with a downfall after NUP lawmakers abstained from the assembly meeting saying the government did not address its demand. It had been demanding that Resham Chaudhary who has been serving a jail-term be released without conditions.

With Rawal’s resignation to Governor Joshi, the second largest Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Kamal Shah is set to become the next chief minister.
