NC lawmaker Shah appointed Sudurpaschim Province CM

Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Kamal Bahadur Shah has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province.

Province Chief Devraj Joshi appointed him as the Chief Minister on Thursday evening. NC lawmaker Meghraj Khadka said Shah received the appointment letter.

According to Article 168 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal, Shah was appointed as the Chief Minister from the NC as the largest party in the Provincial Assembly.

Shah has to take the vote of confidence in the next 30 days as per the constitutional provision. NC has 19 lawmakers, CPN (Unified Socialist) has five, CPN (UML) has 10, CPN (Maoist Center) has 11, Nagarik Unmukti Party has seven and Rastriya Prajatantra Party has one lawmaker in the 53-member province assembly.
