Tankamaya Angbo, a Nepali woman, who entered Saudi Arabia via Kuwait as a domestic worker 10 years ago, was rescued and returned to Nepal.
At the initiative of the Nepali Consulate General, Jeddah, she was rescued and returned safely to Nepal.
Tankamaya was illegally kept as a domestic worker for a long time by various employers in Saudi Arabia. But about four months ago, the last employer kicked her out of the house and left her stranded outside the gate of the Nepali Consulate General in Jeddah.
She was then kept in a shelter until he was safely returned to Nepal from the Consulate General.
Due to lack of records regarding her entry into Saudi Arabia she could not obtain an exit visa.
The Consulate General was able to get her exit visa after several meetings and discussions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia.
After the Non-Resident Nepali Association supported the initiative of the Consulate General, Tankamaya was sent back to Nepal by airship on Wednesday.
