Voting for new vice president underway in New Baneshwar

Voting for the new vice president is underway at the International Convention Center in New Baneshwar.

The voting which started at 10 am will continue until till 3 pm.

Two polling stations have been arranged at the Lhotse Hall of the Federal Parliament Building.

Vice-presidential candidate Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav from the federal parliament and Rajendra Singh Rawal of CPN (UML) from the Province Assembly cast their votes.

Separate polling stations have been set up for the federal parliament and province assembly members.

There are 332 voters in the federal parliament and 550 voters in the provincial assembly.

Voters are lining up in front of the polling station since 9 am for voting and the candidates have also reached the polling station.

The election officer's office said that the counting will be started immediately after the voting is over and the results will be announced by 6 pm.

There are also for candidates in the fray for the election of the vice president.

Astalakshmi Shakya from CPN (UML), Mamata Jha from Janamat Party and Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav from Janata Samajwadi Party are contesting the elections.

In the previous elections, there was a UML-Maoist Center alliance, while currently there is an alliance between Congress, Maoist Center, Unified Socialist and JSP.
