Nepali cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane, who has been suspended on the alleged charge of rape, has said he will arrive in Nepal on coming Thursday (October 6).
In a Facebook message, Lamichhane has informed that he will arrive in Nepal on Thursday and submit himself to the authority of Nepal.
“With great hope and strength, I hereby confirm that I am reaching my home country Nepal on October 6, 2022 and will submit myself to the authority of Nepal to fight a legal battle against false allegation,” reads the message.
Refusing the allegations leveled against him, he has reiterated that he is innocent in this case, expressing hope that law enforcement authorities and honorable courts will grant him justice.
On September 6, an under-age girl lodged a complaint at the Nepal police, alleging that she was raped by Lamichhane.
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) suspended Lamichhane three days after the complaint was filed agaist him.
Following the suspension, the contract of Lamichhane, who had reached West Indies to participate in the Caribbean Premier League, was terminated.
With the contract terminated, he had stated that he would soon return to Nepal. But he went out of contact again, forcing the Nepal Police to issue a diffusion notice through the Interpol.
