Koshi naming dispute: Govt to form probe panel to investigate March 19 incident

The government is to form a probe committee to investigate the incident occurred on March 19 following the demonstration against the naming of Province 1 as 'Koshi'.

The government took the decision to form a probe committee after the discussion held at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar at the call of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, shared that the government was serious towards the scenario developed after Koshi Province naming dispute and the Home Ministry would form a probe committee and forward the investigation immediately.

The government has called all the concerned sides to hold discussion regarding overall scenario. 

Padam Limbu alias Lajehang of Dharan Sub Metropolitan City sustained injuries to his forehead when security personnel fired a teargas shell to quell the demonstration in Biratnagar on March 19.

Critically injured Limbu passed away in course of treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan on Friday (March 24).
