The new variant of Omicron ‘XBB 1.16’ has been confirmed in Nepal as well.
According to the Health Ministry, the variant, rampant in India, has been tested in 10 among the 24 samples sent for genome testing.
The Ministry, had done a random sampling across the country.
The Ministry has said it has been opting strict testing and counselling at the entry points along the Nepal India border, in view of the increasing cases of infection in India.
