Nepal secured a 21-run win over visiting England’s Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) women cricket team in a friendly match held in Pokhara today.
Held at Pokhara Stadium, MCC which was chasing a 100-run target was forced to limit themselves to 78 runs.
Electing to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal notched up 99 runs in the allotted 20 overs losing nine wickets.
Nepal’s Nary Thapa topped the score with 18 runs while Kabita Kunwar and Samjhana Khadka made equal 17 runs.
Similarly, Suman Khadka contributed with 16 runs, Sita Rana hit 10 runs while the other batters could not achieve double-digit runs.
MCC’s Rachael Potter took three wickets while Ria Raval and Amanda Potgieter grabbed two wickets each.
In reply, MCC was restricted to 78 runs. Rubina Chhetry grabbed the highest five wickets for Nepal.
MCC’s Elysa Hubbard made 20 not-out runs while other batters could not perform as expected.
Chhetry was announced the player of the match in the game. Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City Dhanraj Acharya distributed trophies and certificates to the winner.
MCC is scheduled to play a one-day match on Saturday, according to Chairperson of the Cricket Association of Kaski, Sanjaya Kanta Sigdel.
