Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa said party reform and cleansing would be extensively discussed in the policy convention of the NC.

At a program organized here on Saturday by the NC Makawanpur-Kathmandu liaison committee, he shared preparation was underway to hold the policy convention of the party within mid-June.

"The year 2080 would be the year for reform, consolidation and cleansing of the NC.

This agenda would get prime attention in the conclave", he said.

NC general-secretary Thapa further said the experience of the elder leaders and enthusiasm of the youths should be capitalized to take ahead the party.

He urged the government to work widely when the country was facing crisis.

He said the government should perform in a way to make the people realize change.

The country would further grapple with crisis if the performances were not made wisely, Thapa noted.

The country would come to a right track within three to four months when the government continued performing well, he added.

There is no situation for a single party to constitute the majority government, Thapa said, highlighting the need of amendment to the constitutional provisions for reforms in electoral system.
