Under-construction bridge crumbles in Dolpa; some feared dead

An under-construction bridge has collapsed in the Dolpa district on Thursday afternoon.

According to the District Police Office, Dolpa, the bailey bridge that was being constructed over the Bheri River in Tallubagar crumbled on Thursday afternoon.

Inspector Nabin Chapagain of District Police Office Dolpa said that he had received initial information about the incident.

"We have received information that the bridge has collapsed. After the official information comes, it will be clear about the incident," he said.

The under-construction bailey bridge was about to be brought into operation. However, it collapsed a few hours before being brought into operation.

It is said that some people died on the spot when the Bailey bridge collapsed while connecting it.

However, there is no official confirmation about the injured and casualties. Police said that more details about the incident are yet to be received.
