The Bagmati bank at Gaurighat in Kathmandu is wearing a scintillating look on the eve of Chhath festival -- a festival of social harmony and unity.
Gaurighat, where a large number of devotees gather in the Kathmandu Valley for Chhath Puja, has been decorated with pandals, twinkling lights and banana plants.

A total of 520 ghats will be built in Gaurighat area. The Chhath Puja Committee has said that the person who worships here will be charged Rs. 1,500 per head.
On the occasion of Chhath festival, arghya is offered to the setting sun on Sunday and the rising sun on Monday (Saptami).

Along with Kathmandu, ponds and rivers in Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have been decorated for Chhath festival.
Until a few years ago, this festival was observed only by the inhabitants of Tarai. But now-a-days, it is also celebrated in hilly districts and valleys.
