Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Khagaraj Adhikari is taking a vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly today.
After the CPN (Maoist Center) withdrew its support to the Gandaki Province government, Chief Minister Adhikari of CPN (UML), who was in the minority, is going to take the vote of confidence today.
When a coalition partner withdraws its support to the government, the chief minister has to take a vote of confidence within 30 days according to the constitutional provision.
The meeting of the Provincial Assembly is being held today at 3 pm in the afternoon to this effect.
With the support of the CPN (UML), the CPN (Maoist Center) and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, the provincial government was formed on January 9 under the leadership of Adhikari. But the government has been in minority since March 24 after the Maoist Center withdrew its support.
In the 60-member Provincial Assembly, Chief Minister Adhikari has to get the support of 31 MPs to win the vote of confidence.
