10 injured as pro-identity activists clash with police in Biratnagar

Tension ran high after pro-identity activists participating in the funeral procession organized for martyr Lajehang clashed with police in Biratnagar.

Ten people sustained injuries in the clash between pro-identity activists and the police.

According to District Police Office, Morang 10 people including three each from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force sustained injuries in the clash.

Police fired 81 rounds of tear gas shells to control the demonstration.

Morang Police Chief Deepak Pokharel said that after the protestors threw petrol bombs at the police, the police fired teargas shells.

The police said that the protestors and the police injured in the clash are being treated at various hospitals in Biratnagar.
