Rabi Lamichhane certain to win

The victory of Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Chitwan Constituency no. 2 has been confirmed.

As of yet, 56 thousand 496 votes have been counted and Lamichhane has received 40 thousand 69 votes.

78 thousand 277 votes were cast in the by-election held on Sunday in Chitwan-2. 

Now only 21 thousand 781 votes are left to be counted.

However, Lamichhane has made a difference of 32 thousand 612 votes with Jit Narayan Shrestha of Nepali Congress, the nearest competitor, which means that the difference of votes is more than the remaining votes to be counted.

In this way, the victory of RSP Chairman Lamichhan has been confirmed.

Shrestha has so far secured 7,457 votes, while CPN-UML's Ram Prasad Neupane has secured 7,268 votes.

Assistant Election Officer of Bharatpur Ishwar Acharya informed that the counting of votes in all 10 wards and Ichchakamana Rural Municipality in Sector No. 2 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City has been completed. 

So far 870 votes have been invalidated. 

According to him, counting of votes in Kalika Municipality has started.
