A new government is being formed in Lumbini Province today, with Nepali Congress leader Dilli Chaudhary submitting his claim to the chief ministership.

Congress Parliamentary Party leader Choudhary is today presenting his claim for the post of Chief Minister for the formation of a new government in Lumbini Province.

According to Article 168 of the Constitution, the Province Chief Amik Sherchan on Tuesday called for the proposal to be submitted by 4 pm today for the formation of the government with the support of two or more parties.

Accordingly, Congress chief whip Janmajaya Timilsina informed that Chaudhary will submit a claim to the Chief Minister within the same time.

Timilsina said that the claim will be submitted to the Chief Minister today with the signatures of the 53 MPs in the 8-party coalition.

Chaudhary will probably be appointed as Chief Minister today after the submission of the claim.

In preparation for submitting the claim to the government, a discussion was held among the 8 parties including Congress, Maoist Center in Bhairahawa yesterday.

The eight parties have already decided to make Congress leader Dilli Chaudhary the Chief Minister.

On April 25, the parties including the Maoist Center withdrew their support to CPN-UML Chief Minister Leela Giri.

After Chief Minister Giri failed to get the vote of confidence last Monday, the process of forming a new government in Lumbini was initiated.
