Nepali Congress lawmaker Ram Hari Khatiwada has vehemently stated that he will renounce political career if he is found guilty in the fake Bhutanese refugee case.

Speaking in the first meeting of the budget session that started on Sunday, he made this announcement while objecting to the fake Bhutanese refugee issue.

"I read that some media published news with my name," Khatiwada said, "If it is confirmed from somewhere that I am involved in it, then I am ready to be punished and give up the political career."

He also stressed that those involved in the case of fake Bhutanese refugees should be prepared to face punishment according to the law.
