Senior Vice Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Rabindra Mishra has claimed that the senior leaders involved in the fake Bhutanese refugee case were arrested only due to the strong pressure from the United States of America (USA).

On Thursday, the day after former home minister and central member of Nepali Congress Bal Krishna Khand was arrested, Mishra commented that this was not done by the current government on its own.

People in general seem to be very excited about the ongoing investigation into the Bhutanese refugee case. “Do you think that the fast-paced investigation into this scam is a result of the anti-corruption awareness of the current leadership?,” Mishra wrote on social media, "if so, then you are under illusion.”

Meanwhile, Mishra requested not to forget the comments made by Congress MP Arzu Deuba and Maoist MP Madhav Sapkota that the American intelligence and security agency 'FBI' is also investigating the Bhutanese refugee case.

Mishra further wrote, “The issue of Bhutanese refugees is also connected with the USA and if it were not for their interest and possibly serious and threatening pressure, Congress leader Bal Krishna Khand would not have been arrested and an arrest warrant would not have been issued against Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, a leader of UML."

Otherwise, he argues, the leaders should be caught in other high-profile cases of corruption, too.

"There is no doubt that if Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha is doing this with his own conscience, he can arrest dozens of others in turn," he wrote, "if not, there is no reason for anyone to be too excited about it."
