Police have arrested three individuals on the charge of stealing gold and silver ornaments.
Those arrested are Raj Kumar Kamat, 21, Bibek Kamat, 19, and Shreekant Das, 22, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-12, Morang.
The police recovered 35 kilograms of silver and 8 grams of gold, 2,500 Indian rupees, 1,730 Nepali rupees and two mobile phones in possession of them.
Police, received an information that Jayakishor Chaudhary’s house based at Biratnagar Metropolitan City-3, Pipalchowk was robbed in the evening on May 16.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Police Inspector was immediately mobilized for the initial investigation, according to the District Police Office, Morang.
According to the victim, 20 tolas of gold (estimated value of 2 million) and 36 kgs of silver (estimated value of 4.1 million) worth 6.1 million rupees were stolen from his house.
The investigation team had been looking into the theft incidents meticulously for the past seven days, gathering information and monitoring.
The three arrested defendants are neighbors. According to the police, they have been doing theft work for a long time.
According to the police said two of them, Bibek Kamat and Shreekant Das, went to the victim's house on May 17 to steal.
On May 24, police were able to arrest them from the Biratnagar Metropolitan City-12 at 1 am at night. They were heading to India with silver ornaments in two black bags.
