Prior to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s India visit, a delegation including a leader from northern neighbor China is arriving in Kathmandu.
Party secretary of Sichuan Province of Communist Party of China (CPC) Wang Xiaohui is arriving in Nepal on Tuesday at the invitation of the ruling CPN (Maoist Center).
Maoist Center Vice Chairman and Spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara confirmed that the Chinese leader is coming to Nepal.
“Wang Xiaohui is coming to Nepal at the invitation of Maoist General Secretary Dev Gurung,” Mahara told Nepalkhabar.
Xiaohui, the party secretary of Sichuan Province, is also a central member of the CPC.
Leader Xiaohui has worked as the deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC. He is known as a leader close to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Born in August, 1962, Wang is a Chinese politician who took charge as the party secretary of Sichuan since April 2022. Chinese leader's Nepal visit one day before Prime Minister of Nepal Prachanda's visit to the southern neighbor is viewed significant.
Prime Minister Prachanda is embarking on a four-day visit to India on May 31 at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is signing some energy-related agreements during his India visit.
Similarly, during this visit, issues such as border problem, new air route for Nepal will also be discussed.
Earlier, on May 19, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Maoist Vice Chairman Agni Sapkota flew to China. The 20-member delegation led by Sapkota is still in China.
Sapkota went to China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC.
Sapkota's delegation is on a sight-seeing visit to Lhasa, Beijing and Sihang. The delegation led by Sapkota will arrive in Kathmandu on June 1, the day after the Prime Minister leaves for India.
