A Nepali girl has died of dengue infection in a European country, Malta.
Binita Dhungel of Suryodaya municipality, Kanyam, Ilam, who had gone to Malta only a month ago for a foreign employment, passed away in the course of treatment.
According to Bhuwan Aryal, the president of NRNA Malta chapter, Dhungel succumbed to the infection on Friday morning (according to the local time).
Dhungel tested positive for dengue during the test she underwent one day after landing in Malta after falling ill. She had been undergoing treatment in a government hospital in Malta.
Since she was not insured, her treatment expenses at the hospital has accrued a bill of Euro 30,000, according to Aryal.
It is uncertain whether the company where she was supposed to be working will foot the bill since had not even started working.
