Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, has held a meeting with main opposition CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Monday.
Ambassador Chen reached the UML Central Office Chyasal and held talks with Oli this afternoon.
Before announcing the Samajbadi Morcha between CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist) and Nepal Communist Party at the City Hall in Kathmandu, Chinese Ambassador Chen and Oli held talks.
Before leaving for an official visit to China in coming August, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had planned to announce a socialist front. Accordingly, the Samajbadi Morcha was announced today.
Led by CPN (Maoist Center), the Unified Socialist, which broke away from the main opposition UML, also joined the Samajbadi Morcha. With the announcement, a political pressure has been created on UML, political analysts have said.
The meeting between Chinese Ambassador Chen and Chairman Oli took place one day after Chinese team visiting Nepal met with Oli. The two sides have not revealed anything about the conversation that took place during the meeting.
On Sunday, leaders of the Chinese Communist Party had a political meeting with Oli at Cyasal in Lalitpur.
A team including the political chief of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Chinese Communist Party, Chu Min reached Chyasal on Sunday afternoon and met with Chairman Oli.
The team also met with the leaders of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) including Chairman Rajendra Lingden.
Nepal-China relations, expansion of relations between the two parties, geopolitical situation among others were discussed during the meetings.
