Shanta Pahari has been elected as the president of the Japan chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ).
The fifth convention of the chapter held in the capital city Tokyo on Sunday elected Pahari as the president of the organization.
Pahari made it to the post by defeating his rivals Deepak Gautam, Kavikiran Neupane and Purna Bahadur Chalaune.
Similarly, Rabindra Shrestha has been elected as the vice president. Gokarna Adhikari and Binod Kumar Sapkota had also filed nominations for the post of vice president.
The office-bearers have been unanimously elected except for the posts of president and vice-president (open category).
Likewise, Indira Khanal has been elected as the female vice president. Rajan Gautam was elected unopposed as secretary. Bishwas Acharya has been elected as the joint secretary (open), Sajina Moktan has been elected as the inclusive joint secretary while Arjun Lamichhane has been given the responsibility of treasurer.
Lakshmi Paudel, Krishna Prasad Adhikari, Bikas Lamsal, Bhupendra KC, Bishnu Prasad Sapkota, Dubal Singh Gurung, Premash Sherpa, Phurba Sherpa have been elected as members.
Manisha Chamlagai and Rajbin Thapa have been elected as members of the Central Council.
The convention was inaugurated by Roshan Puri, Central General Secretary of Federation of Nepali Journalists. The open session of the convention had been graced by Nepali Ambassador to Japan Dr. Durga Bahadur Subedi.
There are a total of 66 general members in the chapter of the Federation of Journalists in Japan.
