Shambhu Phombo bags Best Singer award

Singer Shambhu Phombo has won the Best Singer award of the Falgunanda Lingden Film (FLF) Award 2023.

Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, who was invited as the chief guest of the program, handed over the award to Phombo amidst a ceremony organized at Rastriya Naachghar on Saturday.

A total of five contestants – three females and two males – were chosen for the award under the Best Singer category. The other award winners for this category include Niranta Nembang, Nechu Dhimal, Jeewan Kedem.

A total of 40 contestants were in the fray for this coveted award (the Best Singer), the organizer said.

Speaking at the award distribution ceremony, Deputy Speaker Rana Magar said arts and cultures should be preserved as they are our invaluable treasures.

 “Arts and cultures are our invaluable treasures. We should preserve them,” said Deputy Speaker Rana Magar, “I, as a state actor, will play my role in bringing programs to promote and preserve arts and cultures. I would like to congratulate the winners and ask the organizer to give continuity to such programs in the coming days.”

Likewise, Asha Nembang, who chaired the program, said arts and cultures are the special creations that distinguish human beings from other creatures.

“Arts and cultures are the special creations that distinguish humans from other creatures. Hence, the state should bring special schemes to promote and preserve these properties of human civilizations.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dinesh Lingden, a film maker/director, said, he has been organizing the FLF award ceremony since its very inception to preserve and promote arts and cultures.

“This is the fifth edition of the FLF award event. I, as a one-man army, have been looking after this event. The FLF is dedicated to the promotion and preservations of arts and cultures,” said Lingden.

This FLF Pvt Ltd, which was established a decade ago, has been organizing various programs for the promotion and preservation of arts and cultures, especially those of Limbu community. 

The jury was comprised of Yaseli Yonghang, Kulba Subba and Udaya Subba.

Similarly, the awards were distributed to the winning contestants under 42 categories including Best Lyricist, Best Director, Best Composer, Best Actor, Best Singer of the main three genres – Palam, Limbu music video, and Limbu film, said Bishnu Singak, who emceed the award ceremony. 

Rita Phombo Thuli, a resident of the United Kingdom was honored with the Life Achievement Award. Likewise, Rudra Pahim won the Best Actor award in the award distribution ceremony. 

Popular film director Tulsi Ghimire, cine actor Sunil Thapa who is popularly known as Rate Kanila and Sher Singh, Awaaj ko Duniyako Saathi Dinesh DC among others were invited as the guests of the program.
