Customs Officer Chand suspended in connection with seizer of 100 kg gold

An officer and a Nayab Subba (non-gazetted first class officer) of the Customs Office at Tribhuvan International Airport have been suspended in connection with the seizure of 100 kilograms of gold.

According to an official at the Department of Revenue Investigation, Customs Officer Santosh Chand has been suspended.

According to the Department, they were suspended on the charge of being involved in gold import customs clearance.

The name of the suspended Nayab Subba is yet to be revealed.

During the operation carried out in the Tribhuvan International Airport premises on Wednesday evening, a team of officials seized an estimated 100 kilograms of gold, which was about to be taken to a taxi after passing the import customs clearance at the airport.

The quantity of gold remains to be calculated.
