CPN (UML) has said it will not allow the parliament to run until a high-level investigation committee is formed.
Lawmaker and chief whip of UML's parliamentary party (PP), Padam Giri, accused Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha of protecting people under the guise of power.
He said that a tape of Maoist Center leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara talking to a Chinese businessman in 2067 BS about gold smuggling was released.
In the case of 100 kilos of gold, it was smuggled into Nepal in the setting between the officials of the home administration, security personnel and the smugglers, said Giri.
“When Department of Revenue Investigation DG knew about the gold, was the Prime Minister aware of it? Did the Finance Minister know about it?'" Giri asked.
