The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said it is difficult to rescue the Nepalis stranded in Thailand and Myanmar.

Issuing a travel advisory regarding the travel to Thailand and Myanmar on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Nepalis are being taken to Myawaddy in Kayin Province of Myanmar and forced to do illegal work.

The Ministry said Nepali migrant workers have been deprived of their salaries, without revealing, how many Nepalis are being held captive there.

Brokers lure Nepalis to Thailand and Myanmar with attractive jobs and pay perks in the field of information technology.

It has been found that employers confiscate Nepali passports after illegally transporting them from Thailand via road to Myawaddy in Myanmar.

They are forced to work for 12 to 13 hours a day in online fraud and other illegal activities, according to the Ministry.

The Nepali migrant workers who were illegally transported and taken hostage in Myawaddy in Myanmar have started contacting their relatives in Nepal and the Nepali Embassy in Bangkok for rescue.

The Ministry said that efforts are being made to rescue the stranded Nepalis in coordination with the Nepali Embassy in Bangkok.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has requested not to fall for such false promises as fake job advertisements are often found on social media.

"While going to work abroad, it is requested to go abroad only with a labor permit according to the prevailing law. The foreign job aspirants are also advised to contact the relevant offices of the Government of Nepal and the Nepali missions abroad to understand about the employer company and the employment," reads the advisory note issued by the Foreign Ministry.
