Vice Chairman of CPN (UML) Subas Nembang, has said that the obstruction of the parliament is not in accordance with the constitutional provisions.

In an interaction on the topic of 'Parliament and  Media Relations' organized by the Federal Parliament, Nembang, who was also Speaker of the Constituent Assembly,  said that the parliament's obstruction is against the constitutional norms and values.

Deputy leader of UML Parliamentary Party Nembang said, "Parliament obstruction is not in accordance with the rules, it cannot be obstructed by the rules, nor has the constitution allowed it, as it is done politically, it is the responsibility of the relevant party to rectify it."

Both houses of the Federal Parliament have been stalled as there was no consensus between the ruling party and the opposition on why to form a high-level investigation committee in the case of gold seized outside the airport.

In the program, former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha commented that he did not have a positive attitude toward the recent disruption in the House of Representatives.

"I don't like the House disruption, let's not block it. Let's have a dialogue. It's the best option to iron out differences. "I think that the ongoing practice will not help in the development of the parliamentary system," he said.

Former Chief Justice Shrestha stressed the need to build a high-level independent mechanism comprising people from civil society to make it more effective while evaluating the work of the Parliament so far.

Pointing out the need for the information given by the Parliament to be complete, precise, and official, he suggested that the media should always be vigilant in favor of Parliament and democracy, which are the lifeblood of democracy.

Deputy Speaker Indira Rana expressed her views that journalism is a mirror of the Parliament and the entire people of the nation. "The media should always be vigilant and disseminate information for the interest of the nation and the people," she said.

Around 50 journalists, who have been writing news on the federal parliament as the main beat, participated in a two-day event.
