England won the title of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup by inflicting a five-wicket defeat on Pakistan at the final match held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia on Sunday.
Chasing the 138-run target set by Pakistan, England reached it in 19 overs losing five wickets.
Ben Stokes topped the score with 52 runs including five fours and one six off 49 balls. Similarly, captain Jos Buttler made 26 runs including three fours and one six off 17 balls while Harry Brook and Moeen Ali hit 20 and 19 runs respectively.
Haris Rauf took two wickets while Mohammad Wasim, Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi grabbed one wicket each for Pakistan.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Pakistan notched up 137 runs in the allotted 20 overs losing eight wickets.
Pakistan’s Shan Masood topped the score with 38 runs including two fours and one six off 28 deliveries. Similarly, Babar Azam made 32 runs while Shadab Khan and Mohammad Rizwan contributed 20 and 15 runs respectively.
In reply, Sam Curran took the highest three wickets while Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan grabbed two wickets each for England.
