Shyam Sapkota of Nuwakot, who attacked Deputy General Secretary of Nepali Congress Mahendra Yadav with a khukuri, is revealed to have been a self-proclaimed citizen campaigner.
Sapkota attacked Yadav with a khukuri while the latter was coming out after attending a program at the Reporters’ Club Nepal in Bhrikuti Mandap on Wednesday afternoon.
Sapkota went at Yadav shouting slogans, “Chop the anti-nationalists, Scrap the MCC, Long Live Monarchy,” according to a video footage.
According to SP Kumud Dhungle of District Police Office, Kathmandu, Sapkota, who originally hails from Nuwakot, is a self-proclaimed citizen activist.
Injured Yadav has been taken to Trauma Center for treatment. Sapkota has been arrested with the khukuri.
