UAE have defeated Nepal by 84 runs in the first match of the One Day International (ODI) held at TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Monday.
UAE restricted Nepal to 179/9 in the allotted 50 overs while the latter were chasing the 264-run target.
To create pressure on Nepal, UAE’s Aayan Afzal Khan took the highest four wickets giving away 14 runs.
Similarly, Basil Hameed grabbed two wickets while Ahmed Raza, Rohan Mustafa and Zahoor Khan took one wicket each.
Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee topped the score with 54 runs followed by Arjun Saud with 51. Similarly, Gulsan Jha and Aasif Sheikh hit 19 and 12 runs, respectively. The other Nepal’s batsmen could not achieve significant runs.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, UAE notched up 263 runs in the allotted 50 overs losing seven wickets.
Rohan Mustafa topped the score with 53 runs including seven fours off 73 balls. Similarly, Muhammad Waseem made 44 runs while Vriitya Aravind contributed 40 runs.
In reply, Gulsan Jha took two wickets while Dipendra Singh Airee and Sompal Kami grabbed one wicket each for Nepal.
