A dedicated lane is being built for the operation of an express bus service from Ratnapark to Suryabinayak in the Kathmandu Valley.
The Office of the Department of Roads, Kathmandu has been marking the road surface with red color to operate the express bus service.
According to Narayan Nihure, the chief of the Department of Roads, the preparations are underway to operate the express bus service from Ajoj 3.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Prakash Jwala had directed to operate express bus service from the Constitution Day which falls on Asoj 3 (September 20).
The Department of Transport Management has readied 25 large buses to this effect.
The road surface is being marked with the color to build the dedicated lane from Ratnapark to Suryabinayak and it will be completed by Wednesday.
“It was originally planned to operate the express bus service from Asoj 1. But the dedicated lane could not be built due to the incessant rains,” said Nihure, “The road surface is being marked by dividing the road into two sections – from Ratnapark to Jadibuti and Jadibuti to Suryabinayak.”
The express bus service will be operated twice a day during office hours (from 9 am to 11 am and 4 pm to 6 pm) from Wednesday onwards.
The concept of express bus service has been introduced by Minister Jwala in a bid to reduce traffic jams during office hours in the Kathmandu Valley.
