Health workers and the relatives of the deceased have taken to the streets in Pokhara after the negation between the two sides struck no chords.

There was a confrontation between doctors and relatives of the patient who died in the course of treatment at Manipal Hospital in Pokhara on Monday.

Irate kin vandalized the hospital and attacked the doctors after 57-year-old Sukmaya Dura of Sundar Bazaar Municipality-6, Lamjung, passed away in the course of treatment at the hospital. Dr Dinesh Kumar BK sustained minor injuries in the confrontation.

The relatives of the deceased have charged that Sukmaya died due to the negligence of doctors and staged protests alleging that the hospital's drug is 'tantamount to poison.'

Police took Binaya Gurung of Malepatan, Pokhara, the relative of the deceased, and Dr Dinesh Kumar under control for their involvement in the confrontation.

Heath workers upped the ante against the ruthless behaviors of the visitors by shutting down all the services except for the emergency ward, shouting slogans, 'Stop Violence Against Doctors.'

The negotiation between the two sides on Tuesday failed, according to DSP Shrawan Kumar BK, the spokesperson of the District Police Office, Kaski.
