The local administration in Ilam district has appealed to the Indians security agencies to help search for five Nepalis reportedly missing in the floods that took place in the Indian State of Sikkim.

The missing people are Sen Bahadur Karki, Lahkpa Sherpa, Narmaya Basnet, Khusi Basnet and Kumar Basnet. All of them are from Ilam Municipality-9 in the district, according to the District Administration Office, Ilam.

They had gone to work in the area near Tista River and suddenly went out of contact following the devastating floods in the Tista River on October 4.

The District Administration Office, Ilam requested the Indian security agencies for the search of the missing Nepalis, said CDO of Ilam, Shrawan Kumar Pokharel.

The Indians security agency apprised the Nepali side that the contact could not be established with the missing ones in the flood-hit area since the telephone  and electricity services has been disrupted in the area since the disaster, according to CDO Pokharel.
