Just two days before the general election, Hem Bahadur Mahato of Nawalparasi East is flying to South Korea for employment.

Mahato is more concerned about his job in Korea than the election that will shape Nepal's future course of development and policies.

If he wanted, he could have booked the ticket two to three days after the elections. But since he did not feel any difference even when he voted in the past, this time he abstained from voting and decided to buy a ticket for Korea.

"I passed the Korean language and went to Korea four years ago," Mahato told Nepalkhabar at Tribhuvan International Airport before flying to Korea on Friday, "Although I was allowed to stay for five years, I was given a visa to stay for one year more because of Covid-19." Since the vacation is about to end, he started going before the election.

He does not care much about the election. There is no information about who is the candidate in his area.

Many people who are going to fly abroad do not think that the country will thrive even if they vote.

A person from Pokhara, who travels to and from Dubai, got angry at the airport and said that there was no use of voting. "I also joined the election campaign for the candidate", he said, 'Even if he was elected, he did not return to our constituency even once. What else do they do?'

He said that he is ready to stay here instead of going abroad if employment is provided in Nepal.

"Would you want to go to work in Dubai if you got a job?", he questions, "leaders do nothing for Nepali people."

Most of the young people who are going to work abroad do not want to talk about Nepal's politics and elections.

Most of the young people queuing up to get their boarding passes enter with grim faces. Relatives cry. Going abroad is not a desire but a compulsion for the youth.

A youth from Sunsari, who is about to fly to Qatar, said, "We are more concerned about food and clothing than the elections."

Young people who go abroad complain about the country's lack of employment, and skyrocketing prices and say that they have no choice but to leave the country.

According to the data of Nepal Rastra Bank, there are about 200,000 people who went abroad for foreign employment in the last three months alone.
