Belgium and Egypt shared points last night after playing out a 1-1 draw in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group G match held in Seattle, USA.
Egypt took an early lead in the 19th minute of the match. Emam Ashour scored the opening goal for his country with a powerful strike from inside the penalty box, capitalizing on a precise pass from team captain Mohamed Salah. This marked Ashour's first-ever international goal for the national team.
Belgium stepped up their performance in the second half after bringing veteran striker Romelu Lukaku onto the pitch in the 66th minute. The substitution paid off shortly after when Egypt's Mohamed Hany accidentally deflected the ball into his own net while attempting to block Lukaku, bringing the score to a 1-1 equalizer.
Despite multiple attempts from both sides in the remaining minutes, neither team could find a match-winner, and the game concluded in a tie.
