Egyptian citizen held with 6.5kg gold from TIA

Police seized 6.5 kilograms of gold from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) yet again in the wee hours on Sunday.

According to TIA Security Police Chief DIG Arjun Chand Thakuri, the gold was recovered from Egyptian national Sherif Mohammed Lashin at 12:45 am on Sunday.

According to Thakuri, six biscuits of gold were found in a semi-solid state concealed inside his jacket. The gold weighs 6 kg 565 grams, said Thakuri.

Two Sudanese nationals were also arrested after gold was recovered from the Egyptian citizen who landed in Kathmandu on the flight of FlyDubai FZ 573.

Last Thursday, 14 kg gold was recovered from the TIA. The gold was recovered from Chandra Ghale from Gorkha.
