Switzerland have inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Cameroon in the group stage match of the FIFA World Cup 2022 held at the Al Janoub Stadium in Qatar on Thursday.
The match which remained goalless in the first half took an exciting turn after Switzerland took the lead 1-0 against the opponent at the beginning of the second half.
Swiss player Breel Imbolo’s goal scored in the 48th minute became decisive for Switzerland to clinch victory over Cameroon.
The victory has paved the way for Switzerland to advance into its further journey of the World Cup tournament.
Serbia and Brazil are alongside these two teams in Group ‘G’. Brazil will take on Serbia in their first match on Friday night.
Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia were in the same group in the FIFA World Cup of 2018.
In the then tournament, Brazil had emerged the winner and Switzerland as runners-up. Cameroon had not been selected for the previous World Cup.
The second stage of match will begin on Saturday.
