Eight individuals arrested in connection with the 138 kg gold smuggling case have been sent to jail for investigation.
A single bench of Kathmandu District Court Judge, Shankar Bahadur Rai, ordered the incarceration of all the accused for further investigation.
The saga of gold smuggling case unfolded further following the arrest of Chandra Ghale of Gorkha with 14 kg of gold at TIA from Dubai.
The TIA Customs Office, which is, currently, carrying out investigation into the case, has disclosed that these smugglers have brought a total of 138 kg gold into Nepal so far.
Those sent to jail include gold smugglers Chandra Ghale, Min Bahadur Ghale and Krishna Kumar Shrestha (Syangja), TIA officials Radha Krishna Shrestha, Lek Bahadur Tamang, Ramesh Deula, Anil Shrestha and Sher Bahadur Basnet.
Similarly, Dhan Bahadur Gurung and his wife Bina Gurung, who were mentioned as defendants in the case, have been absconding.
