Iran defeated Wales by 2-0 goals in the extra time of the second half of the match played at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Qatar on Friday.
Iran’s Ramin REZAEIAN scored a goal in the 98th minute. Roozbeh CHESHMI doubled the score in the 11th minute of the added time.
Limited to 10 players in the 86th minute, Wales were stunned after Asian country Iran scored 2-0 goals in the extra time.
This win has earned them three points, keeping alive their hope of reaching the 16 alive.
Earlier, Iran and Wales played a goalless draw in the first half. Iran’s Ali Gholizadeh struck the ball into the goalpost of the opponent in the 16th minute. However, Iran failed to capitalize on the opportunity to take the lead after Ali Gholizadeh’s shot-at-target ball was declared offside by the umpire.
Similarly, Sardar Azmoun attempted to strike a ball into the goalpost in the 7th minute but it was easily saved by the goalkeeper since the strike was not so powerful.

In the first group stage match, Wales had played a 1-1 draw with America, paving their way to advance further into World Cup journey. In the final group stage matches, Iran will take on America and Wales will lock horns with England.
America and England who belong to the same group will lock horns today midnight (12:45 am Saturday). The further world cup journey of Iran will depend on the result of this match.
