A passenger bus that bogged down and turned sideways on the road at Baneshwar Chowk in Kathmandu on Friday morning has been retrieved.
The passenger bus, Ba 3 Kha 3762, which was coming to Ratna Park from Tinkune, suddenly bogged down after the road surface caved in, sending passengers to run out in panic.
The bus bogged down in the crumbled road was removed with the help of a crane. After retrieving the bus, an excavator was used to repair the damaged road.
"We ran out in panic after the running bus suddenly turned sideways, said a passenger involved in the accident, "The wheels of the vehicle bogged down in the road surface."
Earlier, in October 2078, a big pothole had appeared in front of the Civil Service Hospital near New Baneshwar Chowk.
This Maitighar-Tinkune road was built six years ago by the Kathmandu Valley Road Expansion Project through a joint construction company called Tundi-Raman-Biruwa at a cost of 500 million rupees.
The six-lane road in the Kathmandu Valley started to develop potholes within a year of its construction.
