Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has claimed that the people-orientated works of the government have kindled people’s hopes towards the federal democratic republic.

Addressing a program organized on the occasion of 39th anniversary of Nepal Television, Prime Minister Prachanda said that the government’s performance has kindled the ray of hope in Nepali citizens and made them optimistic of the federal democratic republican setup.

Stating that he took charge as the head of the government in a challenging period, Prachanda said it has now completed 13 months during which some historically popular works have been done.

“The investigation into the Bhutanese refugee case, actions into Lalita Niwas case, and gold smuggling case are some the bold steps taken by the government during this period,” said Prachanda, “the legislation formulated in favor of loan shark victims, issues related to citizenship, social security, passports and driving licenses have kindled hope among the Nepali citizens.”

He further said that the government is making preparations to build infrastructures to ensure the Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Expression, Right to Information and Press Freedom. Meanwhile, he expressed commitments to effectively implement the Working Journalists Act, 1993 to make the media sector respectable and professional.

Prachanda said that he is well aware that the media companies in Nepal have been hit by the shrinking ad market apparently caused by COVID-19 and global recession.
