Former Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Basant Nembang is undergoing treatment at Medici Hospital in Lalitpur.
Former Minister Nembang, who had reached Phungling to attend a UML Taplejung Secretariat meeting fell unconscious suddenly on Wednesday.
After he fell unconscious in Phungling, he was airlifted to Lalitpur-based Mediciti Hospital for treatment. According to Nembang's secretariat, his health is gradually improving.
His personal secretary Ganesh Yonjan said, "His senses are better today than yesterday. The right side of his body is not moving." Nembang is being treated at Mediciti's ICU, he added.
"He is currently being treated at the ICU," he said, "after some improvement, he will be shifted to a cabin in consultation with the doctor."
The doctors have said that he should be treated at the ICU for at least 72 hours.
According to the doctor involved in the treatment, an MRI was conducted on Nembang initially when he was brought to Mediciti. An MRI report showed a blood clot in the artery on the left side of his brain, what the doctor called 'brain stroke'.
According to personal secretary Yonjan, the treatment was started after the confirmation of 'brain stroke'.
