ACC Women Premier Cup: Nepal inflicts 8-wicket defeat on Bhutan

Nepali National Women Cricket team has registered a second win in a row in the ACC Women Premier Cup underway in Malaysia.

Nepal inflicted an eight-wicket defeat on Bhutan in the cricket match of the Asian Cricket Council Women's Premier Cup held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Sunday morning.

Earlier in the match held on Saturday, Nepal defeated Hong Kong by eight wickets.

Chasing the paltry 66-run target set by Bhutan, Nepal reached it in 11.5 overs losing two wickets. Nepal’s Sita Rana Magar topped the score with 32 runs including two fours and one six off 37 balls followed by Rubina Chhetri with 17 runs. Opener Kabita Kunwar hit 5 runs before being bowled out while captain Indu Burma was out for 1 run.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss at the Bayuemas Cricket Oval in Malaysia, Bhutan notched up 65 runs losing four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Opener Ngawang Choden hit the highest 25 runs followed by Dechen Wangmo with 17 runs while Tshering Zangmo 16 runs.

To restrict Bhutan to a low score, Kabita Kunwar, Sita Rana Magar, Indhu Burma and Kabita Joshi took one wicket each.

With the second win in a row, Nepal is atop the points table with four points from two matches followed by Bhutan with two points. Nepal will play Maldives in the last group stage match on Tuesday.  Nepal is in Group D alongside Hong Kong, Bhutan and Maldives.

A total of 16 teams, which are participating in the ACC Women Premier Cup, have been divided into four groups. Top two teams will book berth in the quarter finals. The team that enters the final will qualify for the Women's Asia Cup.
